Tori Tori, Mexico

Mexico City you've done it again! An eclectic building, this masterpiece is a collaboration between that of architect Michel Rojkind and Esrawe design studio, Tori Tori Restaurant would you believe is Mexico's hottest new spot for, wait for it, Sushi!

One of the most striking parts of the restaurant is its facade. Made up of two layers of steel, the patterns found on them have been cut out with the use of a CNC (computer numerical controlled) machine, then handcrafted to meet the specific specifications. The two self-supporting layers of steel seem to mimic the ivy growing on the outside terrace and are very similar but have complimentary yet subtle differences. Since Tori-Tori is a Japanese restaurant, the interior reflects a Japanese style but isn't a strict interpretation. Each room is meant to have a clear interpretation of its function and all the furniture for the restaurant was designed with Tori-Tori specifically in mind.

A second Tori Tori has just been completed and has Polanco Mexico's foodies in a spin. Not to mention one super stylish website. Love it! Images courtesy of Paul Rivera, Rojkind Arquitectos.
