The Pitch, Sydney Australia

A little closer to home this stunning, rule breaking home is Located in Sydney, Australia and was designed by architecture studio Chenchow Little. This house came about due to a rather strict building ordinance code requiring all new houses to have pitched roofs, go figure. The clever architects followed the rules but were able to add their own unique flare and style to the design and create something that is truly unique.

The triangles forming the roof pitch up but then invert onto themselves to form a faceted roof plane. The design of the roof is then carried on into the facades, creating articulated opening for entrance areas. The house not only satisfies the building codes ordinance, it fulfills the needs of the owner. The client wanted an excellent view of the surrounding area and for natural light to fill each of the spaces, achieved by using large glass windows and putting the living room on the top floor, which took full advantage of the stunning sculpted roof. I want one.
